John Lo Schiavo, S.J. Center For Science and Innovation in San Francisco, is intelligently ventilated
The University of San Francisco (USF) needed a new science building to accommodate the growing number of students. The goal was to design a building that communicated with the existing science facility at Harney Plaza in an open way, exemplifying the inquisitive nature of the sciences and social spirit of the campus.

The high-performance building is in the heart of the USF main campus and features state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. A large portion of the façade is glass which also features operable windows equipped with WindowMaster actuators and MotorLink® technology. MotorLink enables 2-way communication between the window automation and Building Management System. This way, the BMS can control the speed and degree of opening as well as getting real-time feedback on window status. This automation strategy further allows the BMS to coordinate the window opening along with the other systems for a sustainable and comfortable indoor climate.

Intelligent control of windows: MotorLink®
MotorLink® is a communication technology that enables 2-way control and feedback between window actuators and the Building Management System via the MotorController. All WindowMaster control systems are MotorLink® capable with many of our actuators. Click below to learn more and see related products.
